Fox’s entry level F14-650 1/2” capacity morticer is the obvious solution for the woodworking enthusiast and small joinery shop. In spite of an exceptionally modest market price, it offers a surprisingly high standard of build quality and a range of features including a smooth running induction motor, a robust cast iron headstock supported by a hydraulic gas strut stabiliser for smooth, controlled chisel feeds, and an adjustable operator handle for maximum comfort in use. Mortice chisels up to 1/2” x 1/2” (13 x l3mm) can be utilised, and combined with a 5” (127mm) headstock travel, give scope for furniture making projects and other demanding joiney tasks. A sacrificial MDF subbase prevents damage to the chisel and bit when through-morticing, and a cast iron rear fence and hold-down featuring microadjustment provide precise, optimal material support. In line with safety standards, the F14-650 also features a conveniently placed NVR switch.
